The Mask:
Veil, the Truth
Until what extent of not being seen can we be judged? Can you judge someone without a face to associate those thoughts to?
With this mask I wanted to (almost entirely) take away the face component of a mask with the aim of avoiding being seen or recongnised by someone, while still being able to see. This overlapping of veils then acts as wall, where vulnerability and subjection remain shielded from the outside world. With this project then, I wanted to re-enforce the mistaken idea of judging someone based on their physical apperance and looks. For this project I was inspired by the early runway masks worn by the models of Maison Martin Margiela, who used to wear masks to hide their identies and, at the same time, emphasize the garnments.
